Emergent strings from infinite distance limits

چکیده
A bstract As a refinement of the Swampland Distance Conjecture, we propose that quantum gravitational theory in an infinite distance limit its moduli space either decompactifies, or reduces to asymptotically tensionless, weakly coupled string theory. We support our claim by classifying, as special cases, behaviour M-Theory and Type IIA compactifications on Calabi-Yau three-folds at distances Kähler space. The analysis comprises three parts: first classify possible limits classical three-fold. Each such finite volume is characterized universal fibration structure, for which generic fiber shrinking elliptic curve, K3 surface, Abelian surface. In second part focus investigate nature towers massless states arise from branes wrapped fibers. Depending classes fibrations are considered, obtain decompactification F-Theory, with unique heterotic II string, respectively. latter probes dual D-manifold general non-geometric. addition intrinsic excitations, M2-branes along non-contractible curves become light correspond further wrapping winding modes tensionless string. third analysis, consider show effects obstruct taking only not involves K3-fibrations scale gives rise emergent

String topology and infinite strings
In this paper, we will be considering a new definition of infinite strings over a finite alphabet. The conventional definition of a finite string does not involve the process of string formation but implicity assumes that the strings are formed by insertions of letters at the end, which results in a definition of an infinite sequence of letters. This definition is incomplete, because other proc...
متن کاملInformation-Theoretic Characterizations of Recursive Infinite Strings
Loveland and Meyer have studied necessary and sufficient conditions for an infinite binary string x to be recursive in terms of the programsize complexity relative to n of its n-bit prefixes xn. Meyer has shown that x is recursive iff ∃c, ∀n, K(xn/n) ≤ c, and Loveland has shown that this is false if one merely stipulates that K(xn/n) ≤ c for infinitely
متن کاملFO-Definable Transformations of Infinite Strings
The theory of regular and aperiodic transformations of finite strings has recently received a lot of interest. These classes can be equivalently defined using logic (Monadic second-order logic and first-order logic), two-way machines (regular two-way and aperiodic two-way transducers), and one-way register machines (regular streaming string and aperiodic streaming string transducers). These cla...
متن کاملPenrose limits and Green - Schwarz strings
We discuss the Green-Schwarz action for type IIB strings in general plane-wave backgrounds obtained as Penrose limits from any IIB supergravity solutions with vanishing background fermions. Using the honest normal-coordinate expansion in superspace, we prove that the light-cone action is necessarily quadratic in the fermionic coordinates. This proof is valid for more general pp-wave backgrounds...

Let X and Y be two run-length encoded strings, of encoded lengths k and l, respectively. We present a simple O(|X|l+|Y |k) time algorithm that computes their edit distance. 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
